TENURE-­TRACK FACULTY POSITION IN DEVELOPMENTAL NEUROSCIENCE

Applications for appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, tenure­track, in the Department of Pediatrics are invited from individuals engaged in developmental neuroscience research. Applicants should hold a PhD and/or MD degree and have significant postdoctoral training. The successful candidate will be expected to establish an independent, externally funded research program and to teach in Northwestern University's graduate school or medical school. This full-­time position offers outstanding scholarly and scientific resources in a collegial environment with an interdepartmental neuroscience graduate program with over 150 faculty and strong ties to Children's Memorial Hospital, the Feinberg Institute for Clinical Neuroscience, the Cognitive Neurology and Alzheimer's Disease Center, the Center for Genetic Medicine, the R. H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. Laboratory space will be located in the Children's Memorial Research Center. This position offers substantial resources and state-­of-­the-­art core facilities, including viral vector, transgenic mouse and targeted mutagenesis, confocal and multi-­photon microscopy, imaging and morphometry, cell sorting, and microarray cores. Applicants with outstanding accomplishments in any aspect of developmental neuroscience, especially neural stem cell research, are encouraged to apply. Beyond the individual's area of expertise, the exceptional candidate will have the ability to bridge clinical and basic science. This recruitment is part of a growing commitment at Children's Memorial Research Center to increase the understanding and treatment of diseases and birth defects that affect children and their families. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.  The start date is expected to be Summer/Fall of 2008, and is flexible.
